12 year old is enthralled with flags and geography
Looking for a gift for a 12 year old that is in love with flags in particular and geography in general. I’m hoping to find something that is beautifully illustrated, but has good information as well.
If you are in the US/interested in US geography, *How the States Got Their Shapes* by Mark Stein is a great read that I enjoyed back when I was a geography-loving kid. *Atlas Obscura* has some interesting books as well with a more global perspective, mainly focused on strange or fascinating places around the world.

Take a look at Prisoners of Geography (the Illustrated Young Readers Edition) by Tim Marshall
DK Geography of the World is a beautiful reference book.
