I was a big ER fan and never connected that he was also behind Jurassic Park, which never really interested me.
But I like to go into Libby and hit “random” and scroll until something intrigues me. I found Airframe this way.
I read it in one night and I was hooked.
It’s been a week and I just finished The Lost World. I haven’t slept much this week. Congo was incredible, I also loved Sphere.
I’m devastated to know we won’t get another real Crichton novel that he was truly behind (I haven’t read anything that went out after his death.) It’s always said when you find an author that’s gone because you want to devour all of their books but also relish it because there won’t be more.
What interesting stories. What great ideas. Some of the technical went over my head but I still loved them.

The first I read was The Andromeda Strain. It still holds up decades later.
Crichton never got the main stream appreciation he deserved imo, hell of a writer.
Amazing how he goes from science attempts to total nonsense and the nonsense was used as reference material in congress.
I liked Eaters of the Dead
Eaters of the Dead is a great one, too
He was one of my favorites. I should reread some of his because it’s been years.
