I hate that my imagination is forever tainted by the movie and once my mind sees an actor/actress as a certain character, I can never see them the same again. An easy example is the whole Collen Hover book and how it was turned into a movie. I am not a fan of Collen nor will I ever read her book but if I did, Blake Lively will forever be that main character in my head, and I hate that.
I actually get upset whenever they do this, even if it's a book I didn't necessarily like. I just saw that they are trying to make the Fourth Wing series into a TV show, and while I did read the book and it wasn't my favourite, I hate that whoever the actor/actress that plays the characters, will be tainted.
Game of Thrones is a good example as I cannot read the series without seeing the TV series actors/actresses as those characters. I will forever see Jon Snow as Kit Harrington and Daenerys Targaryen as Emilia Clarke.
