I read 1984 last year and loved it. I thought the dystopian political landscape was really interesting and still just as relevant today. The prose was also fantastic and it convinced me to start reading more.
I’ve read a few books this year and they were fine but none of them were able to capture me the same way 1984 did and I’ve been in a little bit of a reading slump recently.
Another book I enjoyed was Hyperion. I thought the stories of the pilgrims were really interesting for the most part, especially the weirder ones. The overarching politics was also very interesting to me.
I know both books I mentioned are more dystopian sci fi novels but I don’t necessarily need every suggestion to be related to that genre. Partly because I feel like sci fi isn’t a genre that’s always well written.
