I know DNFing books can be a hot topic in the book world. It is perfectly okay for people to not finish a book that they don't enjoy because everyone has different tastes. Reading is a personal experience for people, and what captivates one reader might be different for another.
I'm just saying this because I've noticed an increase in people being weird on the internet when somebody DNFs a book that you might really love. I'm not saying it's everybody, but someone posted on TT about a book they didn't enjoy and the reasons were valid but people were just hating them for it.
I DNF ACOTAR, The Paris Apartment, These Silent Woods, and possibly The Reappearance of Rachel Price because of a lack of connection or boredom while reading these books. If you enjoy these books, that's fine !!! I don't mind at all, they just weren't for me and I couldn't click after 3-5 chapters. (Hopefully that makes sense).
If a book is not bringing you joy or finds content that might offend you, it is okay to put that book down. It would help if you did NOT force yourself to read things that you don't like. If the book is popular and has all the hype on the internet and you check it out, don't enjoy it, it's okay to put it to the side. Chances are you aren't the only person who feels this way.
Can reading be all about learning, mental stimulation, perspective, and emotion? Reading is supposed to be an experience, that transports you to worlds, has different experiences, escape and entertainment, exposes you to new ideas, and so much more. Yes !!! If you're not escaping or learning something new, then you're going to resent it.

I personally think my favorite books are the best books in the entire world and no one should DNF them. (I’m kidding but not really)
You’re dead wrong. If you don’t like my favorite book as much as I do we go to war!
I agree, books are an individual journey. It’s great to have friends to talk about your favorite books with…whether they be poignant or just trash escapism. Nothing is better or worse, and your life is going to frame how receptive you are to individual books.
It’s not a personal attack if someone doesn’t like a book I liked.
DNF = Did not finish
For those wondering…
I do not encounter these people that feel strongly about others DNFing a book. In fact I largely see encouragement to stop reading books if they are not working out for whatever reason.
Nope, sorry, my tastes and opinions are perfect and eternally correct. Disagreeing with me means you’re a non-human horror from beyond the stars!
We can decide ourselves what’s ok, we don’t need you to tell us.
