I'm looking for some books to read in September! It's about to be spring here and I want some whimsical books that will make me giddy and happy because I don't usually read those.

I'm not a fan of romance books (prefer it as a side plot) but I prefer WLW romance in case that's relevant. My favourite genres are sci-fi, fantasy, and contemporary fiction but I'm open to anything!

Witches Abroad by Terry Pratchett (can be read as a standalone as does most of Pratchett books)

*The House in the Cerulean Sea* by T.J. Klune is a humor fantasy novel about rediscovering joy and finding new meaning in one’s 40s.

*A Record of the Spaceborn Few* by Becky Chambers is sci fi about celebrating nature and human connection to nature, and the plot is literally the story of how home is wherever you can return to with family.

*The Ministry for the Future* by Kim Stanley Robinson is… an undertaking, won’t lie, at 700+ pages. But it’s also easily the most hopeful novel about climate change I’ve ever read, and it imagines the next 100 years in a way that feels realistic yet optimistic.

*The Madness of Crowds* by Louise Penny is about finding hope after COVID. It’s set in the winter, and it gets into some dark topics, but it’s ultimately a book about building a future after trauma and learning to heal.
