I get really envious of people who enjoy reading and who read a lot of books. I really want to read but my attention span or my desire to read is non-existent so could somebody please suggest a book that would be intriguing and interesting enough that I would want to read the entire book

      Starter Villain – John Scalzi

A short (200 +/-) pages book that I thought was fun, silly, clever.

Title pretty much gives the context of the book.

If you have any preferences, that may help others recommend books.

    2. Do you have genres of tv/movies/games that you like? Or movies that you like that are based off books? It will probably help to get good suggestions if people know your taste.

    3. What do you like as far as movies, shows and games? It takes practice if you’re getting back into it, no shame in having trouble!

Maybe some non-fiction? Caitlin Doughty writes some really interesting books about the death industry that were really thought provoking to me. Or Sy Montgomery writes books that combine like nature, philosophy and memoir in a really interesting sometimes heartwarming way.

No book is a one-size-fits-all, so it’s hard to suggest without knowing your tastes. What kind of stories do you gravitate you? What tropes draw you in? Is there anything that annoys you about stories?

    6. Stick to non-fiction then. Anything by Rose George, Caitlyn Doughty or Mary Roach is especially good.

As long as you’re reading something you’re into (probably similar themes to the kinds of movies and shows you like) you should enjoy it.

Try to narrow down your top 10 favorite movies and figure out if there are any commonalities between them. Like, strong characters, strong emotional impact, a sense of adventure, strong bonds, or other things that don’t necessarily have to do with the genre, itself, but rather what specifically about those movies makes you like them as much as you do. Then, let us know and we will give you suggestions of some great books that you’d probably really enjoy.

Without knowing anything about what you like, it’s simply shooting in the dark, and there are millions of books out there.

That being said, my shot in the dark is Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. It has excellent characters, great pacing, it’s very well written, it has humor, friendship, emotion, adventure and really interesting concepts. It’s genre is sci-fi but it’s realty based so it takes place in the real world… and space, but not in a fantastical way. Just think of the movie The Martian with Matt Damon. It has similarities to that movie but is different. It’s basically about someone trying to save the world. It’s highly entertaining and has veeerrry good reception from readers.
