I’ve been kind of lonely for the last year, and something that always makes me feel better is a book full of so much love that the pages can barely contain it. Some books that have really hit the spot for me are:
-Ender’s Game and Songmaster by Orson Scott Card
-Nona the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir
-The Imperial Radch series by Ann Leckie
The main characters of these books experience love so intensely that it almost physically hurts to read about it, and the narratives themselves are unapologetically sentimental. I also can’t help but feel that the authors of these books all have a deep and profound love for humanity, if that makes sense?
I’d love to hear any suggestions y’all might have for other scifi/fantasy books in this vein. (Some other authors that got close to scratching this itch have been Martha Wells, Becky Chambers, and Laurie J. Marks.)
