I just read The Catcher in the Rye and LOVED it, but I’m having trouble finding similar things. I liked how simply he described such complex feelings, and I liked it being in first person and being able to see Holden’s speech patterns. I think I also just enjoy questionable narrators.
I also like Hamlet, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, Waiting For Godot, Night, Antigone, Legally Blonde, Cyrano de Bergerac, and Hitchhiker’s Guide, if it helps any.
I have a somewhat short attention span, so preferably no books that are super thick.

Depending on what you wanna go for, *The Outsiders* has clear influence from Catcher but is more of an eventful story with more characters.
*My Year of Rest and Relaxation* is like a modern version of Catcher with an adult woman who’s kind of awful.
