New reader here but have quickly started to love this medium. Started with YA and some murder mystery books. But I also want to read books from different genres like mystery, thriller, psychology, fantasy etc. But I don't know which book or which specific genre should I read or look into because of my relatively low idea of the medium as a whole. I don't have any heavy likes or dislikes of what I would read.

So, I am asking you to suggest some of your favorite books that made you fall in love with the medium.

Basically, books that you made you adore "Books"!

As a kid I loved Nancy Drew and Cherry Ames mysteries, which quickly evolved to Agatha Christie, who is still the queen of mysteries imo. *And Then There Were None* is arguably one of her best.

*A Wrinkle in Time* by Madeleine L’Engle was my first favourite book that I read over and over and wanted other people to read so I could talk about it. Her writing spans many age ranges and genres but her Time quartet, that starts with Wrinkle, is still my favourite.

In school I read George Orwell’s *1984* and Aldous Huxley’s *Brave New World*, which made me fall in love with the dystopian genre.

Mary Shelley’s *Frankenstein* and Jane Austen’s *Emma* made me fall in love with the classics.

Helene Hanff’s *84 Charing Cross Road* is a book that makes you fall in love with books all over again.

Octavia Butler’s *Parable of the Sower* blew my mind. Possibly the first Afrofuturist book I read and I was hooked. It is eerie how well she predicted the future.

I could go on but that’s probably more than enough to get started!
