Basically I really like the hunger games, specifically the audio book (the narrator was just incredible my god), and I’m looking for another book with that same sort of emotional depth and connection and pain. The sort of book where just thinking about it makes you feel the deepest heartache. But the thing is, I don’t like the hunger games ending. It just feels so summarised. Like, all of that pain just for it to have a two page happily ever after? I know it wasn’t fully a happily ever after but that’s still what it felt like. For a book with so much pain and complexity, I don’t think the ending should be so plain and simple y’know? So I’m looking for a book with the same vibe as the hunger games (it doesn’t have to be dystopian, just the same sort of feeling) but preferably with a bad (as in sad) or just more fitting ending. (Don’t spoil if the ending is good or bad though!) For example, not a book like the maze runner. I want well written characters and a well written ending. If it has a good audio book then please say so! Tia!
