A realistic middle-grade with a beautifully written “voice,” like Liar & Spy, All Alone in the Universe, or The Truth as Told by Mason Buttle

When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead (Liar and Spy author) has gotten great reviews but I skipped because I don’t like time travel.

I actually enjoy fantasy and wouldn’t mind fantastical elements but I’m in the mood for contemporary, kids on bikes type of thing. Maybe autumnal with fall approaching.
