With only their grit and smartness. I really hate when there's a random unbelievably lucky plot device used.

I really liked the first part of Man's search for Meaning and will like to read more like that, be it fiction or non fiction, preferably the latter. People in extreme poverty or in a place where they are discriminated a lot or having to do years of work in something they hate or being too old for something and society giving up on them, and there very real way of rising above it. Not just because of blind hardwork but because of their tact and resourcefulness and most of all their mental fortitude.

Basically, I want to feel motivated.

    1. Touching the Void by Joe Simpson. Since reading this book, I’ve heard this quiet voice of rebuke in my head whenever I want to give up on something because it seems impossible.

    2. * **The Girl with Seven Names** by Hyeonseo Lee
      * **Many Lives of Mama Love** by Lara Love Hardin
      * **Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive** by Stephanie Land
      * **Writing My Wrongs** by Shaka Senghor
      * **Becoming Mrs. Burton** by Susan Burton

I loved all these books and really felt motivated after reading them.

Thomas Sowell’s autobiography. Benjamin Franklin’s autobiography. Helen Keller too.
