Norwegian Wood was my introduction to Murakami and I loved it. The way he describes his characters and their world is magical. I read it a while ago but I'm still hooked and I don't know what to read next. Do you have any recommendations? Not exactly similar, but what novels would I like, what should I explore? Any books by Murakami or other authors? I was thinking Sputnik Sweetheart but not sure.
My go-to genres are classic lit or romance or historical fiction, also like bildungsroman themes, nostalgia, love and longing, time/old age/reflective themes, slice of life etc.
I'm open to exploring but I do still love tender romances or simple stories about life and love. Don't enjoy violence , gore or too much action. However, thrillers are fascinating too.
Any suggestions would mean a lot, thanks.

I read the Windup Bird Chronicles by Murakami and I loved it.
It was wonderfully dreamlike but also with great humour mixed in.
Constantly found myself pausing in my reading to write down funny lines 😅
I loved First person singular by Murakami!
Good omens by Terry Pretchett and Neil Gaiman has a lot of Murakami vibes in the sense that you’re never sure how much of whats written is actually happening in the story and how much is more of a fever dream. They are tip-toing the line of warping reality in a similar manner. That being said it is a different genre and a has you on the edge of your seat at times, there‘s a bit of a love story in there and humor that takes you by surprise.
