I love books that are entertaining and (at least feel) historically accurate. I couldn't put down the Wager earlier this year and just finished Nuclear War. I have trouble articulating why both of them hit in a similar war, but I'll say I loved both because they go into detail about military processes or daily life in stressful circumstances. I also have a low tolerance for a dry read, looking for something engaging and on the shorter side.
I'm reading Erik Larson might be another author to explore, but Devil in the White City bored me to death. Might check out Dead Wake or The Demon of Unrest because I heard those are better? Anyway any suggestions are welcome!
Other ones I'm looking at:
-The Wide Wide Sea
-A Fever in the Heartland
