I’m currently rereading Across the Universe and I’d forgotten that one of the main characters was a runner who had wanted to train for a marathon back on earth. I love to run, and I love sci-fi & dystopian books, and I know there are a couple of other YA books with girls who like to run so I thought I’d cast a wider net.
Can anyone recommend books that have some speculative elements to them (so are not straight dramas) where the MC actually loves and/ or trains to run? Not like the Maze Runner where it’s about survival. Just a love for running. Doesn’t matter if it’s written for teens or adults.

the running features mainly in the first book, but in City of Ember, the main character loves to run and becomes a “runner”, someone who delivers messages and packages across the city. I’m not sure if it features in the next few books, but it’s a great middle grade/YA series and I remember it fondly!
