I’ve never been a big reader, but I’m OBSESSED with true crime podcasts (Crime Junkie, Morbid, Sword and Scale, etc.)
Decided to get into nonfiction true crime books. This week I read:
In Cold Blood – Truman Capote
If You Tell – Gregg Olson
I definitely preferred the writing style in If You Tell. Literally couldn’t put it down. In Cold Blood was shocking, however my only gripe is that some parts are “made up” for story telling purposes.
Any other recommendations? I like being able to research the case after the fact, also helps put a face to the name when reading.

The Ultimate Evil by Maury Terry is a good read. Some can argue there’s a lot of conspiracy though rather than actual events.
Dark Room in Glitter Ball City: book by David Domine
Last Call by Elon Green
The Third Rainbow Girl by Emma Eisenberg
Fatal Vision
I’ll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara
Jon Krakauer – anything by him really but Under The Banner of Heaven, Where Men Win Glory, Missoula
Bad Blood by John Carreyrou
Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann
Chaos: Charles Manson and the CIA by Tom O’Neill
Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi
Red Notice by Bill Browder (and also Freezing Order, by the same author)
Say Nothing by Patrick Radden Keefe (also Empire of Pain, by the same author)
Columbine by Dave Cullen
And a few I haven’t read yet but they’re on my TBR:
Crimes, Trials, and Punishments, by Dominick Dunne
Party Monsters by James St James
Last Call by Elon Green
Black Widow by Ryan Green
I’m almost done with Killers of The Flower Moon, you’ll love it. It’s nonfiction that reads like a thriller, much like In Cold Blood.
