the endless suffering, anguish, torment, general dissatisfaction with life….so real.
it was sad to read but also oddly comforting. i haven’t read anything like this before but i really like his writing style, his word choices.
does anyone have any recommendations for other books like this? that voice these types of emotions? i was thinking of exploring dostoevsky’s work next.
i have also recently enjoyed reading translated fiction particularly by some japanese authors. it’s not the same as kafka’s work but similar theme of discontent, sadness, dealing with the monotony of life. does anyone know what the name of this genre is? ‘slice of life’ is what i had in mind, just very relatable thoughts and feelings
