I am running a short story club at my university this upcoming semester and I’m looking for good short stories that would work well with a diverse group of readers. I want to create a diverse reading list of authors of different ethnicity, backgrounds, gender, time period, classic/contemporary, genre, etc. A list that isn’t just a bunch of old white guys and Western canon stuff, save a few. Thanks!

This recommendation meets 2/3 of your request. Canadian author Robert Joseph Greene wrote The Gay Icon Classics of the World and The Gay Icon Classics of the World II. I recommend his second book but both books are about different gay love stories from around the world. The Russian Government used the second book as reason to pass a national anti-gay propaganda law. Mr. Greene is a person of color.
