Important note – I'm not a native speaker, that's why I get too stressed about reading English literature, but I'm also quite advanced in the language, so for the past couple of years I've been distancing myself from any translated media, and that's why I couldn't even pick up a translated book because I can't help thinking reading it would be a waste of time when I can read it in the og language and improve myself in 2 ways instead of one.

But I also have never been a fan of literature, even when I only knew my native language, so I barely have any experience.

I'm not looking for something specific, just something good, probably a best seller – I would rather start reading something I've already heard of, long(like, a BOOK, not a light novel), I was thinking fantasy-ish, and something that wasn't written 200 years ago, where the language used is eloquent, but modern and something I have a chance of hearing in real life, where the author doesn't come up with a new expression every other paragraph:D

I looked into the series "The Song of Ice and Fire", it would be fun, but I remembered getting insanely confused watching the show dubbed – the worldbuilding and all, the way characters expressed themselves, considering it is set in a period inspired by middle ages, the amount of subplots might've just been too much for me, and reading the books the confusion would probably increase tenfold.
