My bf drunkenly admitted to me that he missed reading and I want to gift him a book he'd enjoy. He loves stories set in a fantasy setting (also modern day but with powers) and about regular people who deal with the nuances of having power. He connects to high fantasy aesthetics without all the high fantasy politics. He also loves lovecraftian horror. Anything helps because his tastes are way different than mine.
