I just read a book that came highly recommended to me by a friend. Ironically, they said that I’m the only person they know that would enjoy it. It was just a hot mess- poorly structured with lots of dropped plot threads, repeated twists and turns that were meant to shock but didn’t actually have a point, and terrible attempted commentary on the internet and modern society generally.
Just curious what y’all normally do in a situation like this. Do you say you disliked it or not? I might just point out the things that I did like about it.

It basically shows how little they know you, doesn’t it? Time to have a long hard look at that friendship before worrying about what to say. After that, just be honest and say you didn’t enjoy it at all and ask them what made them think that you would.
