Basically title. It's easy to default to the classics when I want something to analyze or be thoughtful with, but I'd like to be able to find more modern authors with something to say mainly so I can try and emulate their style, which is difficult to do for some classic authors. I already know a handful from my classes, but I struggle to find any on my own. Most of the books I find nowdays are just genre fiction. Don't get me wrong, I like genre fiction too, but I would like to have more meaningful books in my collection.
Also, if anyone knows a good modern author who writes thought-provoking horror/thriller fiction and/or someone who focuses on mental health issues, I would greatly appreciate it.
