A Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion (memoir, nonfiction, mourning sudden death of her husband)
A Man Called Ove by Fredrich Bachman (fiction, older man mourning his wife and his father)
Mammoths at the Gate by Nghi Vo (fantasy, mourning the death of a beloved mentor. technically this is the fourth in the series but each one can pretty much stand on its own and I’m still recommending it because the way it dealt with death and grief was so beautiful and well-handled.)
