Hi,
I just finished this book, came to it with big expectation for an "adventure" book, traveling all around the world, meeting people, scenery, dealing with problems along the way.
The book almost had none of that.
Beside the rescue of Auda, and the assault on the train there were barely no events during the book, it was just "boarding train 1, here's some of the view they don't notice or through Passperto eyes – fast forward 8 days".
Fog was a dull character for almost all the book, by design from my understanding.
I feel the concept of the book "guy travels around the world!" was true appeal that inspired many other shows, plays and what not, but the original book was mostly meant as critic toward English people than show a true adventure.
