I am fully expecting to hear some controversial takes in here. Tell me all about why it didn't meet your expectations: was it the writing? Did you dislike certain parts of the plot, or certain characters?
I, for one, was quite underwhelmed by Dracula. Even for the writing practices common in Bram Stoker's time, I felt that his writing was too draggy and he over-explained every little detail.
Of course, there were parts of the book that were truly fantastic. Jonathan Harker's journal entries in the beginning were terrifying.

Fahrenheit 451. I always heard people talk about how this book is about censorship but it’s actually more.about how Ray Bradbury hates television.
Nothing wrong with not enjoying some classics. If you pretend to like all of them then you’re ignoring the massive range of books we call ‘classics.’ There’s so much variety it’s possible and probably encouraged to like some 19th-century society novels and dislike others, and then there are seven more centuries to go!
I’m really struggling with The Count of Monte Cristo. I feel like things keep happening but I have no idea what. Everything is very dense and there are so many characters with various different names, and historical and political elements that I don’t understand. It’s been such a slog. I’m not sure when I should call it a day and DNF.
**Lord of the Rings** series. People swear by it, but to me, it was too slow, and the mcs didn’t have any real agency. I was bored to tears reading it.
More of a modern classic I suppose, but Sula by Toni Morrison didn’t live up to the hype for me.
I didn’t dislike it, but I expected to enjoy it much more than I did.
A Confederacy of Dunces. Tried it twice, burned out twice.
