Firstly, I had forgotten that it was a book first 🙂 When I was reminded, decided to read it. It’s actually an excellent book, very suspenseful and well written. I’m so curious why so much of the story was changed for the movie. The whole strained relationship between the Brody’s (and add Hooper in there, yikes) was absent. The movie added the scar scene on the boat, not in the book at all. The ending, very different in the book. I found the book much more interesting – it was gory but that really wasn’t the point of the story at all. I understand that not all books translate well into movie format, but this wasn’t one of them. Some things would have to be left out for brevity, but so many fundamental pieces that shaped the characters were dismissed.
