Which writer put their home state on the map as much as Stephen King?

I know next to nothing about Maine other than reading Stephen King. When I say “on the map” I don’t necessarily mean it has to be a writer as famous as Stephen King, just someone who draws heavily on their experience growing up in a particular state and captures it as a setting in all or many of their books.
