Does anyone remember the title of a really good book that when you went to look for it you were surprised was out of print? So, like deserves to be digitized, re-printed for cheap, and quoted more often. And if so, can you remember them and tell me the name/s? Bonus points if the book was published before 1927, so is public domain.
There’s just a fair few rare books that you can only buy used for a lot of money now. And I’m getting pretty fast at digitalizing old scans, so want to build up a little portfolio of books I’ve worked on before going to publishers. E.g. Big authors like Tolstoy still have a few books that are out of print. At the moment I’m working on a volume of his books and articles called *My Religion; On Life; Thoughts on God; On the Meaning of Life* which are old public domain translations that I’m pretty confident aren’t in print. There’s other translations of the *My Religion* and *On Life* books, but they seem to be translations from Russian to French to English which means there’s big differences in the translations.
I know there’s likely very little money in this, but it would just be cool to try and get various books back into print along with trying to flog my own writing.

IIRC, the book the Fox and the Hound by Daniel Mannix, on which the Disney animated classic is based, is not only out of print but also incredibly rare, often fetching a hefty sum for a copy. Interesting if true, because you’d think just being the inspiration for a Disney movie would be enough to significantly boost its popularity.
The Three Investigators. They had a reprint in the 90’s, but only of the first few, the one later book I read was much better/more interesting, but never got a reprint.
