I tend to go for the darker material like Stephen King & Ann Rice, although I would argue they often end on a positive note. Also, thrillers, crime novels, that kind of thing.
But, I'd like to find something different since the current political climate has me feeling more negative than I like whenever I pay attention. Something to read before bedtime that leaves me neutral to positive feeling without being bored to death.
