I'm looking for books to read before a trip to Italy and during the flight and train rides while there! I love to read books on holiday that "feel" a bit like the trip itself. Whether it's modern literature set in Italy, Italian books translated to English, historical fiction (I am very interested in the Medicis!), fantasy with a Roman twist, fun romances, travel writing, nonfiction, I am curious what is out there! Ideally I am looking for fun, interesting, captivating, informative or thought provoking, but not terribly dark and heavy for a vacation read.
Last year I read the Marriage Portrait and absolutely loved it (along with anything else by Maggie O'Farrell, and my current list includes a Farewell to Arms by Hemingway and A Room with a View by E.M. Forster.
