I find myself at a loss to articulate the feeling of horror I get when I watch the news about Palestine and Israel. I feel horrible but I find the horror nameless. I know it’s a fool’s exercise to try to understand or intellectualise war and conflict. But sometimes when I feel helpless about everything that’s going on in the world, I feel the only thing I can do to find solace is to understand it a bit more better. I’ve been thinking about the anime series attack on titan everytime I read about the war. Suggest me a book to help me understand (as far as possible) whatever it is I am feeling.

It is not a fool’s exercise to understand or intellectualize war and conflict. It takes time, effort and a thorough investigation of history to understand the material conditions of any conflict. Obviously every author is biased but it’s not impossible to sort through the bs. But if your goal is to sit on the fence, condemn both sides, and try to find some cozy middle ground then of course you will be confused.
