As in there is something fundamentally wrong with them and it bothers the people around them
Like a child way too comfortable with things no child should be, or holds deeply-rooted, warped beliefs that hurt them as much as others
Or just does unnerving things
Just someone that should have been locked in an asylum before the story even started

There’s always Dexter. He may or may not be possessed by an actual demon. Or he’s just insane.

Fifty Shades of Grey from Christian’s POV is creepy, too. He’s so possessive. Much like Edward’s POV in Midnight Sun. It reads like a predator grooming his victim. And that’s exactly what it is. I’ve actually enjoyed Twilight when reading it as ‘pedophile grooms unknowing victim’. It’s far more compelling than ‘sparkly vampires lololol’.
Lolita if you haven’t read it already!
American psycho
Catcher in the Rye sounds like it would qualify.
*Perfume* by Patrick Süskind.
the market of monsters series! MC is skilled with/unaffected by murder, violence before the story begins.
Pale Fire
Last House on Needless Street
*The Goalie’s Anxiety At The Penalty Kick* by Peter Handke is a pretty short novel with very minimal plot but extremely interesting style, about a guy who probably should’ve sought help a long time ago (if he was ever gonna seek it) who commits a crime for no reason at all and then half-asses evading the police.
I could understand someone thinking the book sucks, but I found it really fascinating
Turn of the Screw by Henry James. Is the MC disturbed or are the children driving her mad?
Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn.
