I don't like cozy science fiction but I am in a dark place and need something to occupy my mind without pulling me even further into depressive mood.
I especially enjoy military sci-fi where humans are augmented or have some cool suits with lot of functions that go beyond human abilities. I especially like books where I care about characters (but if it's a really excellent book plot-focused book is also fine) and protagonists are good people. They by no means have to be perfect, they can struggle to be good or do good, but no morally grey characters. Humorous book is fine, it doesn't have to be serious.
I would prefer something written recently.
