I have been on a self-inflicted train of reading hard books and I am looking for something that is still meaningful but easy on the mind. This year I have read Ulysses, Wealth of Nations, Guns of August, and Faust among some other hard books. IDK why I did this to myself but here I am.
I want to read something that just feels natural and easy to follow. Spirited Away is one of my favorite movies because it's not complicated but still super interesting and aesthetic. Has anyone read anything like that before?

If you’re okay with reading middle grade I highly recommend Eva Evergreen Semi-Magical Witch by Julie Abe.
A young witch with only a touch of magic must prove herself by helping out a town! Theres even an animal sidekick. Its incredibly endearing.

Studio Ghibli already adapted it into a movie (and it’s a personal favorite of mine as well) but the original version “When Marnie Was There” by Joan G. Robinson captures the calm, relaxing, small town cozy vibes perfect for Ghibli movies with an interesting plot and character development. It’s easy to read and enjoyable. Highly recommend!
