I got to reading "What You Are Looking For Is in the Library" with lot of hope. I was told this book is like a comforting read, a cozy hug. But unfortunately I could not identify with the characters in the book. Probably because most were youngsters with problems of a specific age. I also did not like "Midnight Library" because it seemed more like the stupid advice "Hey, have you instead tried, being just happy?". One book that made me happy was "Long way to a small angry planet" This book has a cast that is very supportive of each other, and props each other up. I am chasing that feeling still. Another example is the movie Tampopo (most of it) which is about a woman trying to make the best ramen, and somehow everyone she encounters ends up trying to help her. (just ignore the b plot with ken watanabe which was honestly weird)

i think that who-dunnits tend to feel like cozy novels (for me) so if you’re interested in that I would recommend checking out some of those if you’re interested.

i see that you mentioned a long way to a small angry planet. I read “a psalm for the wild built” early last year and fell in love with it. it is about a tea-giving monk who meets a robot and they embark on a journey together. it has more plot elements than the aforementioned, but still has becky chambers’ cozy atmosphere and soft philosophical musings.

two books that are more in the found family vibe are remarkably bright creatures and a man called ove. they both deal with navigating complex relationships but are not really stressful novels.

short stories and poems that put me in a calm mood were milk and honey (although it has a heavy subject matter) and the house on mango street.

      good luck book hunting!
