I want to read a book that covers cool and mind-bending new technology and discoveries. I am interested in brain-human interfaces, genetics, neuroscience experiments where they grow brains in petri dishes and teach them to do things, and other new and off-putting science findings. I am a beginner with these subjects. I would also be interested in books about the philosophy and ethical questions that arise with these types of modern technologies. Thanks

The Mysterious Case of Rudolf Diesel by Douglas Brunt. Doesn’t cover a recent invention, but that of the Diesel engine. Rudolf’s invention changed the world in many ways and his disappearance is shrouded in mystery.
