I like memoirs written by people about life between 1875-1950. I have really enjoyed reading about the times and lives then. I’m currently reading Beryl Markham’s phenomenal book. Any others set in this time period that you recommend?
I'm especially fond of British memoirs in this timeframe. thank you.
Isak Dineson wrote very interesting stuff about her life. She was the Meryl Streep character in the famous movie Out Of Africa. Interestingly, she and Beryl Markham actually knew each other. It’s been a long time since I read it but I think Dineson’s book called Out Of Africa is a memoir-like collection of short stories. I’m not positive, though. But I do remember really liking it and it made me read more of her books.

Have you read {{ 84 Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff }}. She’s an American writer but the book is a collection of correspondence between her and a British bookseller. It’s right at the edge of your timeframe, first letters are in 1949, but it’s quite delightful.

I found this book fascinating. Written in 1877, it is called [Am I a lunatic?, or, Dr. Henry T. Helmbold’s exposure of his personal experience in the lunatic asylums of Europe and America](https://archive.org/details/66450450R.nlm.nih.gov/page/n7/mode/2up)
