Looking for a series where the series or locations really feel like their own character, full of life, backstory, etc. Love when there is mention of graffiti on the walls, wanted posters, etc to make it feel fleshed out.
Loved the Gutter Prayer and Foundryside series. Loved Perdido Street Station and the 2nd book, 3rd was a chore for me.

Not your traditional fantasy (More like pulp detective mixed with sci-fi and fantasy stories) but the Nightside books by Simon R Green the city certainly becomes its own character.
