    Hello,
I enjoy watching British murder mysteries like Rosemary & Thyme and Death in Paradise, so I recently decided to give Agatha Christie’s books a go. So far I’ve really enjoyed them! EXCEPT.

That twice now I’ve read a murder mystery only for it to be revealed at the end that the narrator is the murderer, and that they’ve been lying about everything that’s happened and all of their internal thoughts the entire book. She tries to get around this by claiming that the book is a manuscript written by the narrator, but why would they spend 5/6 of a painstakingly detailed manuscript pretending to be completely oblivious and innocent and then ALSO write in the ending where they are proven guilty? Surely a murderer who is proud enough of their work to write a detailed manuscript of all the events would spend the entire time bragging about their cleverness and how nobody suspected them (until those meddling kids and their dog!….), or perhaps not include the ending where they got caught?

Anyways rant over, the point is that I really do not enjoy the books that rely on an unreliable narrator and I don’t want to read any more of them. Unfortunately these unreliable narrator books are some of the most highly rated and recommended Agatha Christie books on GoodReads, and I don’t really want to dig through hundreds of reviews on every book of hers trying to figure out if it falls in that category or not. So what I am asking is that you please suggest to me all Agatha Christie books you know where the murderer is NOT the narrator. Or if they are the narrator that they’re honest about being the murderer. Alternatively tell me the ones that do use that so I can avoid them.

So far I’ve read: The Mysterious Affair at Styles, The Murder on the Links, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, The Murder at the Vicarage, The Thirteen Problems, The Body in the Library, The Moving Finger, And Then There Were None, and Endless Night.

If there are any other non-Agatha Christie murder mysteries you’d like to suggest I’ll take those too.

    Thanks!
