Hey all. With October upon us I was looking for some recommendations for some good spooky books to read this month. I’m probably going to pick up between 4-6 titles depending on length. Graphic novels are more than welcome as well as traditional novels.

I’m almost exclusively a fantasy reader, but I love all kinds of horror media. This year I want to focus on the supernatural though. More monsters and slim on slashers.

I’ve read a handful of horror but nothing too extensive. A Darcy Coates there, Black Mouth by Ronald Malfi here, The Twisted Ones by Kingfisher etc.

I don’t have any limits for what kind of content these books contain, but I’m generally not a huge fan of SA being a major theme in the story so maybe dodge that if it’s a heavy part of the book.

Otherwise, shoot me some suggestions and I’ll check them out! Thanks!

    1. *Mapping the Interior* by Stephen Graham Jones is about a malevolent spirit haunting a single mother and her two sons, but only one son knows it’s a spirit causing everything. I love creepy but don’t like anything that makes me too scared to sleep, and this toed that line perfectly for me.

*White Horse* by Erika T Wurth is about a woman who thinks she may have accidentally unleashed a family curse and released a monster that’s begun stalking her. Not as creepy as the other suggestion, but more supernatural, and with a more novel monster.
