As a person with physical disabilities, I always liked seeing other peoples’ perspective on their life and condition. I’d love to know what book you liked on the topic. The protagonist doesn’t need to have a disability, I’m curious to see good and accurate representation. I’m fine with fiction and nonfiction.
For reference, I loved the autobiography 1 Liter of Tears by Kitou Aya. Made me cry buckets and the rawness was gut wrenching and incredible.
On the bad side, I can’t stand idealized out of touch stories like Me Before You or clearly not written by someone who went through the disease stories like The Fault in Our Stars. No judgement if you like those, but I just don’t want something along those lines.
I’m looking for accuracy and rawness. Any recommendations are welcome!

I love Sanitorium by Abi Palmer for down to earth and often darkly funny, discussion of her chronic physical illness. It sounds like you might like it too.
My Glory Was I Had Such Friends by Amy Silverstein
Codeine Diary by Tom Andrews
Easy Beauty by Chloe Cooper Jones is a great memoir.
Of Human Bondage by W Somerset Maugham, the protagonist has a club foot.
I just finished Out on a Limb by Hannah Bonham-Young. It’s a spicy romance but so so funny. And I really enjoyed it.
Vorkosigan series by Lois Bujold. Science fiction. Hero is a dwarf with brittle bones.
