Short easy reads for someone who hasn’t read fiction in a few years?

I'm a pretty picky reader when it comes to fiction, it's hard for me to find something that can hold my interest.

I prefer first person, as I like the feeling of being told a story, or like, reading someone's diary, if that makes sense.

I've enjoyed Dan Brown, Matt Haig, Ernest Cline.
My most recent specific reads, back in 2019, where Dark Matter, The Girl With All the Gifts, The Handmaid's Tale, Gone Girl, and similar.

Mostly thriller with SOME sci-fi aspects.
