I have a five week old and am reading all the time while nursing! (I read ebooks mostly from Libby.) I’ve read 20 books in the 5.5 weeks since he was born, for reference. !! So I’d love some suggestions for new books to read. I have a few general parameters up front, then some specific types of books I like. Thank you in advance!

    Generally:
    – no books where terrible things happening to babies/small children is a major thing, for obvious reasons
    – nothing so academic or complex that it will be hard to follow when I’m reading and nursing at three am (although I like literary and a little complicated aka don’t want everything I read to be Super Fluffy)
    – no fantasy or historical fiction, please!
    – interested in both fiction and nonfiction

Specific categories I’d love ideas in: (examples in each category are things I’ve read and liked)

    • adventure/travel memoirs and hiking memoirs (in the vein of Wild, eat pray love, walk in the woods, what I was doing while you were breeding, etc)

      • clever, contemporary, literary mysteries, especially when they take place outside of the US (eg everything by Tana French, Anthony Horowitz, Janice Hallett, Liz Moore, Susie Steiner)
      • page turner y contemporary novels (some I’ve loved lately: Sandwich, Birman Wood, Crazy Rich Asians)
    • well written, pop sci fi (Crichton’s Andromeda Strain, Martian and Hail Mary, Six Wakes)
