One of my favorite books of all time is Project Hail Mary. I like theamicable relationship between Rocky and Ryland in this book. I like the idea of a peaceful meeting between aliens and humans, and I enjoy observing those two characters learning about each other's species/culture.
I recently read Three Body Problem and the other books in that series. Overall I did enjoy the series, but it was a little too scientific/technical for me. I definitely found myself getting lost in the weeds. However I did enjoy the philosophical nature of everything, and surprisingly I liked the grim picture it painted. I LOVED the Singer chapter in the final book, and would love to read an entire book like that.I also loved the chapters in the first book inside the augmented reality game, although that's not really related to aliens as much I suppose. I just liked the speculative nature of it.
I also recently read How High We Go In The Dark by Sequoia Nagamatsu. Similarly to Three Body Problem, I loved the final chapter where we met the world building aliens and learned how they have always been interconnected in Earth's history.
I feel like I've read every "Best Alien Books" list that exists and haven't found many good suggestions! I already have Children of Time and Dawn on my to read list.
