Hi all!
I’ve been dealing with burn-out to the point that I’m currently on a medical leave for already 2 months and expecting that it will be extended while I get the help I need. I really feel constantly overwhelmed. There is ADHD and depression/anxiety in my family, so I am trying to get a proper diagnosis, too.
All that to say, I love reading and like long books (I hyperfocus and go through them extremely quickly) – but recently I’m struggling to find genres I can actually read. For example, I used to enjoy Stephen King (already read several of his books), but I’ve been trying to read The Shining and I often have to put it down because I suddenly feel stressed out by it. I can’t handle “sad” topics or dystopias either… so I had to give up on some history and science fiction books I was interested in. I like fantasy, too, but I’m a bit out of ideas.
So… any suggestions? Could be books in English, Spanish or “easy” German (think Momo by Michael Ende). Even a series could work, so that I can entertain myself for some time, lol.
