hi guys, i’m looking for a new book/book series to get into that has queer characters whether they’re the main character or supporting cast. i haven’t read anything new in a long time so i’d love to get back into reading now that i have time.
i have read an enjoyed books like six of crows series, percy jackson series, the raven cycle series, and more but all of these are YA which doesn’t resonate with me as much as they did when i was younger.
essentially i’m looking for something in the genre of magical realism or mythology or mystery with queer representation that isn’t based around a group of teenagers. please help !!
i’m open to other genres too !! just no non-fiction please 🙂

House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune, also Under The Whispering Door and In The Lives of Puppets. House has your magical realism, Whispering Door mythology and Puppets is sci fi. They all have gay male main characters
Witches of Thistlegrove by Lana Harper series, cozy fall reads featuring lesbian and non binary characters
Try David R Slayton ‘s White Trash Warlock The protagonist is a 20-something gay man struggling with disfunctional family dynamics, the stigma of being slightly “magical” and its intersection with mental health. In addition to dealing with possession, elves and other immortals, he also develops a love life. Being gay is an important facet of the main character but is not the driver of the story. Overall I enjoyed this very much and btw I am a straight 60+ yo woman. I look forward to reading more from this author.
