I really started to explore the Sci-Fi genre after reading the main stream novels but i never read any book that is in the lines of horrifying sci-fi. The closest i read to this would be 1984 and Solaris but i need recommendations for this specific type of story

      *Dawn* by Octavia Butler

*Hull Zero Three* by Greg Bear

      *Sphere* by Michael Crichton

      *Revelation Space* by Alastair Reynolds

None are really horrifying but they can all be pretty scary.

    3. * Amatka by Karin Tidbeck. It’s a little like 1984.

      * Short fiction by James Tiptree Jr., such as the anthology Her Smoke Rose Up Forever. Most of what this author wrote is sci fi horror.

      * Blindsight by Peter Watts, available as a free ebook [on his website](https://rifters.com/real/shorts.htm). Stanislaw Lem, author of Solaris, is one of his inspirations. He jokingly says Lem took all of his best ideas several decades before he had a chance to think of them.

      * Nightflyers by George R. R. Martin. A collection of short sci fi horror.

      * The Stars Are Legion by Kameron Hurley
