There is something distinct about this particular work, there's a spiritedness that isn't found in most of his other works, I also have a total obsession with the age of sail naval combat and dueling. But it feels like reading the memoirs of a king! There is no self-inserted inferiority complex or lazily disguised political agenda like a lot of authors tend to add in. it's just the story of a disenfranchised king being hunted down while also trying to get back his home. Something so raw about it, too I absolutely love it.
