I just DNF'd an Italian 1920's murder mystery that was so complex and full of itself that it turned me off of reading for longer than I'd like to admit.
One of my favorite mysteries I've read recently is Ghost Hunters Adventure Club and the Secret of the Grande Chateau, a kind of satire of the Scooby Doo style of mystery while actually having a real twist and fun characters. I'm also getting into Grady Hendrix, specifically I just read Horrorstor which was basically a big mockery of Ikea while actually having some good horror material. I'm looking forward to The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires next.
So what I'm looking for is books that are the exact opposite of that stuffy, hard to understand, corkboard type. What are the best goofy mystery/horror books you know?
